Description
This live edge floating coffee table uses a single Bigleaf maple burl wood slab. It anchors living rooms, lounges, and waiting areas. Three square legs keep it solid and open. The strong frame lets the slab’s shape and voids stand out. A durable, hard wax finish protects the surface and highlights the burl’s colors.
This natural wood floating coffee table lives comfortably in spaces that balance clean lines with natural material—an organic modern living room, a downtown condominium, or a quiet office lobby where people gather and wait. The form is irregular but intentional, giving the room something to move around in rather than just a place to put things.
The wood slab comes from the tree’s root structure, where the most complex grain and natural voids occur. I leave those openings intact instead of filling or flattening them. They form negative space across the surface—places where light passes through, and objects are framed differently depending on your perspective.
Functionally, this table serves as a central coffee table. You can set drinks, books, or a tray on its stable surface, while the edges and openings prevent any sense of bulk. The three-legged base provides steady support and visually complements the top.
You can place this piece as shown, since it’s ready for immediate use.
If you have a specific layout or need a different size or proportion, I can build a custom version using the same approach—letting the material lead while fitting your space.
